Band Follower Gets Big Birthday Surprise

Players of Eccles Borough Band this week were honoured to help celebrate the 70th birthday of a long-time supporter of the band; William Daws, in a surprise concert at his home in the area.

Eccles Borough Band is currently enjoying one of its most successful periods in recent times. Currently the 2nd Section Champions at the Wychavon Festival of Brass and the Butlin’s Mineworkers Festival, the band is delighted to have secured promotion to the First Section for 2016 thanks to the hard work of the band’s players and supporters.

The band regularly performs on the concert stage with biannual concerts at the Eccles Town Hall a particular highlight as well as a busy festive season in the Salford area and further afield.

The band looks to add to the trophy cabinet in 2015 with a return to the Whit Friday March Contests in Tameside and Saddleworth, a trip to compete against Scotland’s finest bands at the famous Land o’ Burns Entertainment Contest and the defence of our Wychavon title at the end of the year.

The band rehearse in its own band room in the heart of Eccles and has done so as far back as 1920 with current members having travelled from as far afield as Singapore, Ireland, France, the USA, Scotland, Australia, Wales, and even Yorkshire to play with Eccles’ finest!

Eccles Borough Band have their own rehearsal facilities on Corporation Road in Eccles town centre. We are a short walk from the Metrolink station, the train station and also the town centre bus station.
