Eccles Borough Band recently took part in the Butlins Brass Band Contest.
The test piece was Philip Sparke’s “Three Miniatures for Band” which had only really previously been used as the National Finals test piece in 1998 (third section).
After what we thought was a good performance of the piece we were disappointed to have been awarded 10th place by the adjudicators, Kevin Holdgate and Graham O’Connor.
The contest was won Boarshurst Silver Band and we offer them our congratulations.
The final top 10 finish was claimed by the fancied Eccles Borough, who could count themselves a little unlucky that their bold approach didn’t quite catch the ear of the men in the box.
