Band Follower Gets Big Birthday Surprise

June 5th 2015
Players of Eccles Borough Band this week were honoured to help celebrate the 70th birthday of a long-time supporter of the band; William Daws, in a surprise concert at his home in the area.

Mr Daws grew up in Eccles and has very fond memories of his father, Percy Daws, playing in Eccles Borough Band; his early band photograph still has pride of place on William’s living room wall. A lover of brass bands, Mr Daws was delighted to hear Eccles Borough Band marching down his road with a surprise birthday message from his son Mark, who recently moved to the USA.

This appearance has boosted the morale of the band during its preparations for the upcoming Land O’ Burns entertainment contest and Mr Daws’ well wishes will carry the band proudly up to Troon later this month.
